Arts [OS], a.k.a. Arts of Steen, is an NYC-based digital artist, designer, and brand consultant. Finding inspiration in pop culture, architecture, mythology, surrealism, and more, his work examines the “essence of things.” Forgoing a focus on individual subjects, Steen instead uses liminal environments to explore our relationship with imagination and the world around us. To craft these visual narratives, Steen employs a number of design elements, concentrating on shape, composition, contrast and texture.

As a digital-native artist, Steen uses a combination of photography, 3D rendering, photomanipulation, digital painting, and graphic design. Inspired by the expanding field of blockchain art, Steen leverages the power of smart contract technology, utilizing metadata to create additional layers of storytelling throughout his entire body of work.

The featured pieces here are part of an experimental collection called [Loading] [v1], which serves as both a retrospective and iteration of Steen’s previous work. These pieces function as prototypes for his concept of "Urban Mythology", as showcased in his collection [Urban Mythology] [v1]. These prototypes—all taken on 35mm black and white film and digitally edited—more closely embody the epic and expansive vision that Steen will portray in [Urban Mythology] [v2].
